Stored procedures are database objects stored in an SQL Server with a unique name to allow programmers to reuse the SQL statements with other programs without the need to rewrite the code from scratch (Gorman, 2020). Stored procedures can act on database objects independently without the intervention of the programmer. The reusability feature of stored procedures and its ability to independently access and modify the database increases efficiency while working with relational databases. Also, the fact that stored procedures only need to be turned into executable form once increases their efficiency. Stored procedures are SQL statements written once in an SQ server, restricting user access and modification of SQL statements that are crucial in the normal functioning of the program.
