Influence of Covid-19 on Child Abuse
Child abuse is the act or crime of maltreating a child, either physically, emotionally, or sexually. Also, it is the act of subjecting kids to child labor. Notably, the main reason for child abuse within the family is parents’ frustration, feeling isolated, and stress. Primarily, teachers identify child abuse cases in school and report them to the authority for further investigation and action. Covid-19 presented a rare moment of isolation where teachers, children, guardians, and the entire world had to stay in their homes to decrease rates of transmission.
According to the New York Times ( Stewart, 2020), child abuse cases dropped by 51%, attributed to the closure of schools and the isolation of their pediatricians and social workers. The social...
