How Corporations Influence the Government
Entry of corporations into the political life interferes with the normal functioning of the government and its role towards the electorates. This is mainly due to conflicting interests of big businesses and the social interests of society. The social responsibility of the government is to protect the social and economic welfare of the governed from the exploitation by corporations whose interest is to maximize profits at the expense of the welfare of the community
The primary interest of big corporations is to make profit. According to Newslea (2017), corporations tend to fund politicians to pass policies that favor their business. An example is the current environmental issue where corporations are striving to maintain pollution of environment and water catchment areas.
