My first reaction was that the poll outcome does not predict the result that would be recorded if the whole population participated in the survey. Surveys only derive a sample from the entire population. Therefore, the poll outcome of 53 percent does not portray the “true” status quo that could be attained if everyone had participated in the survey. The sampling error margin communicates how the country would reasonably anticipate that the poll outcome falls compared to the actual population perception concerning the subject being surveyed.
