In many organizations, a majority of the employees ranging from 20 to 40 value benefits related to childbirth and childcare. Such benefits are some of the strategies for employee retention. Employer-sponsored childcare is more of a direct incentive for both men and women (Sonfield et al., 2013). In my experience, direct childcare benefits are visible because they motivate workers. Childcare programs have the potential of reducing staff turnover, absenteeism and minimize recruitment costs. Employers providing childcare services are becoming a common trend due to increased demand especially from women with young children seeking employment (Council, 2004).
Employees often compare what similar organizations offer in terms of employee benefits. In my experience, employees often compare their benefits to what other organizations offer to measure how their work is valued within the organization.
