This may be a situation you experienced with a past or current employer, as part of a volunteer experience, or within a community group. Ethical standards in the workplace are the foundation of content employees and satisfied clients. Ethical behaviors guide the manner that people perform their job in effectively (Marques, 2017). Proper ethical standards in the workplace are regulations that an enterprise seeks to adhere to. The paper will highlight an ethical situation in the workplace. It will also explain the challenge and describe the outcome of this issue. It will propose an alternate solution to the problem.
Analysis of the unethical Situation
An example of an ethical challenge I was involved in was in my previous place of employment. This occurred during the creation of an effective marketing campaign that required the development of new products and also fine-tuning customer services. The marketing department supervisor placed me in charge of the public relations campaign team that would develop an effective strategy with the chosen team members. The main issue here was that some team members were highly uncooperative during the execution of the project and once it was completed, they took credit for the success of the campaign.
Assessment of the challenge
As we began the project, some team members were not contributing their ideas or any efforts in generating a successful marketing campaign. I discussed this problem with the supervisor; however, he did not listen to my complaints and only stated that I should work out the problem on my own as I was the chosen team leader. I addressed this issue with the specific team members that were not productive but since some were senior managers in the department, they stated that they would not be of any use to the project as their expertise during that time were needed elsewhere. I had to delegate additional duties to other employees in the project without considering their views on this issue. Once the campaign was complete, I presented it to the supervisor, and it was a huge success. However, the uncooperative members in the project were also rewarded since they were part of the project which was highly unethical.
