Social scientists have proposed a number of theories to explain juvenile delinquency. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. For this assignment, go to the following Website, located at http://listverse(dot)com/2011/05/14/top-10-young-killers/ and select one of the juvenile case studies.
After reading the case, select one (1) of the psychological theories discussed in Chapter 4 of the text. 
Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:
Summarize three (3) key aspects of the juvenile case study that you selected.
Highlight at least three (3) factors that you believe are important for one to understand the origins of the juvenile’s delinquent behavior.
Apply at least two (2) concepts from the theory that you chose from the text that would help explain the juvenile’s behavior.
Identify one (1) appropriate strategy geared toward preventing delinquency that is consistent with the theory you chose.
Use at least three (3) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

Juvenile Delinquency: A Case study of Derrick Robie Murder by Eric Smith on January 22, 1980.
Important Aspects of the Case
One of the cases involves a 13-year old who murdered 4-year old, and it has some notable aspects as described below. Eric Smith was a normal child who had some odd looking hair, glasses, and ears. Since Eric had an abnormal physique, he was picked on by other children a factor that could be attributed to his anger management problems. Another outstanding aspect of this case was that a psychiatrist found out he was suffering from intermittent explosive disorder. The details of the murder signify he was likely very angered by the younger boy and lost self-control. Finally, Eric was convicted of murder despite being a child and has been denied parole severally.
Factors that are important for one to understand the origins of the juvenile’s delinquent behavior.
There are quite a number of factors that lead to delinquent behavior in children. Physical factors like malnutrition, deformities, lack of sleep, speech defects ailments lead to delinquency. Children exposed to some of the above-mentioned physical factors develop aggression that is likely to lead to delinquency CITATION Lar12 \l 1033 (Siegel & Welsh, 2012).
Mental factors such as mental defects, low IQ, lethargy and laziness, adolescent emotional instability, depression among others are likely to lead to delinquency. Since children are not experienced enough to handle mental pressure, they tend to react over to some issues that are likely to exert pressure on them and can lead them to crime.
Home and school conditions such as unsanitary conditions, material deficiencies or excessively, poverty, broken homes, immoral parents, stigma, unhappy relationship with siblings, lack of parental care, inadequate recreational facilities, wrong grading by teachers, peer pressure at school, inadequate buildings in school among others. Such factors often lead to children to engage in immoral behavior to compensate for their young wild brains.
