That is the assignment - I am very much a proponent of the 'right to die' cause. Being in Medical Billing, I get to see a lot of different cases where ethics plays a big role. I do not deal with patients, so my interpretation is one-sided, but I have had family members who would have benefited from this if it was a law.

Brittany Maynard had terminal cancer and supported the right to end her own life when it seemed right to her and became one of the proponents for legalizing assisted death. Maynard supported changes to promote medical aid-in-dying legislation in California, which did not have laws promoting assisted suicide and the right to die with dignity. Health practitioners are expected to follow patient autonomy and focusing on the patient’s best interests, benefit them and not cause harm (Cottrell & Duggleby, 2016). Health care works must also follow professional standards and the code of ethics. Billers comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) standards.
