The provision of healthcare in the current age is widely neutral. This simply means that there isn’t any focus or bias placed by the healthcare provider on the religious fundamentals of the patient. It is therefore down to the caregiver to have some understanding of sociocultural and religious aspects of their patients. In his quest to live a fulfilling life, man has used his intelligence to develop extra-ordinary means and equipment. This has not only stopped at equipment, but also the various approaches to life. In the healthcare sector, assisted death has been promoted as a means of allowing terminally ill patients to experience death with decorum. On the other hand, various religions have their understanding of death and are reluctant to shift from them, even in cases where death is knocking. Any shift is considered to be immoral and against the laws of a particular divine being. The back and forth struggle between this two schools of thought seem not to have an end any time soon, but provide an avenue to delve into both perceptions.
Introduction
Death is an inevitable part of human life that man has failed to control or prevent. Regardless, the nature of death is not only attached to biological and scientific concepts but also relates to religious and philosophical concepts. The development in medical technology has even changed the definition of death to “assisted suicide” and “merciful killing.” Despite these changes, the Christian narrative gives a distinct account of death and the process of dying that dates back to the apostolic era. With regards to “Death and Dying Case Study,” this paper aims at analyzing George’s situation in the context of Christian Worldview and ethical consideration.
Interpretation of George’s suffering with regards to Christian narrative on the fallenness of the world
There is bound to be various ways in which George interprets his afflictions from both a human perspective and religious one. Religion usually plays quite a significant role in a patient. Since Christianity has different churches that interpret the bible differently, George’s interpretation of his suffering would be influenced by the Christian church he goes to. Based on the concept of the fallenness of the world, some Christian churches would argue that what is happening to George is God’s will. This interpretation helps Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and even develop it further. From a personal point of view, George may interpret his suffering as a consequence of a sin he committed. It must be really eating him up since his suffering affects both him as well as his immediate family.
He could even relate his suffering to a sin committed by his forefathers because the bible indicates that the consequences of sins will be felt by four generations.
