1 Three of the benefits of implementing comprehensive classroom behavior management
One benefit of having comprehensive classroom behavior management is that it instills an effective learning environment. An effective learning environment is one in which both the teacher and the learners achieve their objectives (Bentinck, 2017). Behavior management strategies help with achieving classroom effectiveness because they enhance a teacher’s control over the learners’ behaviors. Such a tool helps teachers to predict and address arising challenges promptly. The second benefit of behavior management is creating a low-stress environment for learning. The elements of surprise and unpredictability instill stress among learners. However, with a comprehensive behavior management initiative, the learners already know what to expect, which reduces the amount of stress in such learning settings. The third benefit of comprehensive classroom behavior management is improved learner engagement. Behavior management strategies eliminate disruptive or inappropriate behaviors promptly, which creates more time for instructions and learning.
2 The meaning of “cultural gaps” and describe two culturally sustaining practices teachers can use to address them
Cultural gaps are the variations and disconnects between cultures considering that each culture has unique practices and norms. In a learning setting, students can showcase cultural gaps based on how they behave, communicate, or solve various problems. With cultural gaps, learners from different cultural backgrounds are accustomed to showcasing varying perceptions (Bentinck, 2017). It is also worth noting that cultural gaps can cause challenges in a learning environment, especially with the increased possibilities of variations in learner ideologies. Teachers must advance unique avenues that fit their classrooms to instill culturally sustaining practices. One of the avenues to stimulate a culturally sustainable learning environment is giving every learner a chance to showcase his/her culture. Every learner should be allowed to be proud of their unique cultural background. To achieve that, the teacher must ensure that all cultures are treated as superior in the learning environment. The second strategy is to allow extensive interactions among learners from different cultures. A culturally sustainable environment is one in which every learner understands the strengths and weaknesses of other cultures. Such a milestone can be achieved when learners are allowed to solve problems collectively regardless of their backgrounds. The teacher can extend the initiative by incorporating such cultural integration initiatives in the learning environment.
