The sometimes-unnoticeable advertisement and yet very obvious promotion aligned to the platform's original functions are called Native Advertising. As social media became common to everyone who has access to the internet, entrepreneurs and business people saw potential. That is why some flatform is using native advertisement as their way of promoting a brand this way. Users will interact and have fun at the same time while viewing the said advertisement. In this summary, I will discuss the summary of the article given to us and summarize the main idea surrounding native advertisement.
Summary
Buzzfeed is known for its exciting article providing daily news and entertainment. Created by Jonah Peretti in 2006, it is now one of the well-known article sites. They also offer articles for all ages to maximize their audience, from political news to cartoon-related articles.
Similar to any platform, Buzzfeed needs to generate revenues in order to keep the site online. This is where they introduce their promotion through Native ads that look like their standard content online, but it contains paid partnerships in reality. This content containing promotions fits their overall look. Because this content containing ads is sometimes difficult to differentiate with their "real" articles, users are more entertained while being informed of the presence of the brand. Because users are more focused when what they are reading is attractive, making the brand name sticks to their mind.
