Various thematic issues act as unifying ideas in three books Fences, Always Running and Anna in the Topics. From the critical analysis, the theme of Loss of innocence manifests clearly in all the three pieces of literature. Various characters in the three books have gradually changed from their innocent characters to totally different persons upon becoming adults.
In the book Always Running by Luis Rodriguez, the artist and political organizer get inspiration to write about the events of his early life. His early life mainly revolves around Loss Angeles when he comes to lean that Ramiro, his son is associating with the life of gang. He refers to the gang affiliates as choco or “La Vida Loca.” Luis is an innocent young boy parented by a straightforward and intelligent father who is a principal. Besides, the mother is also a fiery person whose intention is to bring up a straightforward family. However, as Luis grow to become an adult, he begins to change his character from an innocent young boy to a dangerous gang member. He finds gang life attractive because he associates it with protection against the police who he considers a threat. His innocence diminishes father when he begins to use drugs, drifts away from his parents and brother Rano and becomes sexually active. In collaboration with Miguel Robles, his middle school friend, a gang club called Thee Mystics. Moreover, his innocence continues to deteriorate when robs houses in the company of his fiend Yuk Yuk and sell the robbed goods to their crime partners.
In the play Fences, by August Wilson, the theme of loss of innocence manifest clearly in some characters. However, loss of innocence seems to be more pronounced in Troy.
