2. Summary of the Novel: Include a broad overview of the story here. Specify the time period, setting, overall plot, and main characters. Describe the atmosphere or tone/style of the story and the point of view of the narrative.
3. Characters’ Details: List the main characters and identify any major conflicts that exist between them. Highlight if there is a particular problem that the characters are trying to solve. details including character’s background, age, likes, dislikes, and everything else that impacts the story, including their relationships.
4. Plot Details: This section includes an overall description of the plot. No need to add too many details; tell the overall story and the major plot twists. Any element that propels the story further should be included here. Think of it as highlights of a game or match; no play by play, just important events. Be sure to include how the plot picks pace, what conflicts arise, how they are eventually resolved, and how the book ends. Also mention any literary themes and plot devices observed in the book. You are welcome to flex your literary criticism muscle and include a theoretical overview here.
5. Evaluation: This is the section where your own observations and opinions belong. Offer your own unique critique of the book. What did you think the strong points and weak points were? Describe how easy it was to sustain interest in the book. Write about what you learned while reading the book, and especially focus on how it affected you on an emotional level. Make sure you include your answer to the question, “Is it Literature?” Explain why or why not.
6. Conclusion: Finally, include a paragraph in which you write your honest opinion on the book. Why you would recommend that classmates read it? Why did you enjoy this book? June Faver was previously a teacher and a healthcare professional, now a Texas author known for contemporary romance and suspense novels. Her love for Texas is also reflected through her works featuring the state and numerous heartfelt Texan characters. She is now residing and writing in the Teas Hill Country (Schafer).
June Faver’s first novel in the Dark Horse Cowboys Series is Do or Die Cowboy. This book was published last August 28, 2018, by Sourcebooks Casablanca. Do or Die Cowboy is a page-turner, combining action, romance, and suspense in a genuine cowboy story, also showing Texas family culture and dynamics.
Summary of the novel
She is focused on protecting her daughter, Gracie. Leah Benson is on the run because of her dangerous past. With little money left and all the stuff that could fit into their car, they are in search of safety.
A cowboy musician, Tyler Garrett already decided to pursue his dream in the music industry. He is taking a once-in-a-lifetime chance of doing a demo recording in Dallas. On his way, he encounters Leah Benson and Gracie twice before becoming the knight in shining armor that the two needed.
Do or Die Cowboy is set in Texas, and is about the exciting love story of Tyler Garret and Leah Benson, also featuring the intriguing mix of personalities and Texan family dynamics. This book presents with triggers such as stalking, harassment, domestic violence, kidnapping, and fistfights.
Character’s Details
* Tyler Garrett – He is a cowboy musician who is an aspiring Texas Country Idol winner. He is described to be dreamy, broad, tall, handsome, and kind, on top of being the son of a wealthy Texas rancher in Langston, Texas. He is close with his late mother, who supported his dream of becoming a musician, while he has issues with his father, who wants him to focus on the ranch rather than chasing his dream.
* Leah Benson – She is a young, beautiful, and hardworking single mother to her daughter, Gracie. Her character tries hard to protect and give her daughter a good life despite experiencing difficulty in terms of money and stability. She is haunted by her dark past and is running from her ex-lover, who causes problems in the story.
* Gracie – She is the cute, charming, and witty eight-year-old daughter of Leah Benson. She did not have her father around ever since she was born.
* Caine – He is the abusive ex of Leah, who is also a troublemaker and a threat to the lives of both Leah and Gracie. He was in prison for eight years and blamed Leah for it.
* Fern Davis – She is also referred to as Gran in the story. She is the grandmother of Leah and is also the owner of the ranch in Texas, where Leah and Gracie will stay. Gran is already a widow, left to do the maintenance and upkeep of the ranch. She also has issues with the Texas ranch and her neighbors.
* “Big Jim” Garrett – He is a big, courageous, and righteous man known in their town. He is the husband of Elizabeth Jane Garrett and a protective father to three sons, one of them being Tyler Garrett. He is wealthy and is the owner of the Garrett family Ranch or the C...
