I have always believed that having leadership experience is possibly one of the greatest treasures I could ever gain in my high school life. I want to increase student involvement in community service
In the first year of becoming student president, I want to immediately set a service-oriented culture among the student body. I think there is something to be said about the incoming seniors wishing the graduating seniors well. It would be a nice way to honor their legacy and hard work in high school and acknowledge their hopes and dreams for their future career success.
I want to maintain communication between students and teachers
I really believe that it’s the members of the student government who bridge the gap between students and their administrative authorities. If I could be the person who could connect them in ways that truly matter, I would help them realize that they are on each others’ sides and that their interests can be aligned. In most schools, students barely approach their teacher for anything outside the day’s homework or test result. There seems to be a barrier separating them. I would like to serve as a mediator for both parties and work to align their interests by creating opportunities for them to connect and dialogue outside the regular classroom time.

Most seniors graduate from high school feeling nervous about the next stage of their journeys. I want their perspective to shift to one of hope, knowing that their school has done more than enough to prepare them for their journeys beyond this season. One thing that I’m thinking of is to conceptualize and organize a seniors’ night where graduating students can informally connect and mingle with select alumni, professors, and work professionals. I want them to have an opportunity to converse with these people who have walked the road ahead of them so that they can be assured that there is a great support system waiting for them outside of graduation. I believe that it would also serve as a strategic networking opportunity for them.
