Exploring My Uniqueness in My Own Life Endeavors
Since I was young, my parents have always assured me that I am someone special and that I shouldn’t allow anyone to put me down because they find me different. This is comforting to me, as I have always thought that I was a weird person with weird interests.
In this essay, my goal is to reflect on the traits that make me a unique person and to think about the importance of enjoying these traits. I am learning that if I just shift my perspective and look at myself the way that my folks see me, I can enjoy a happy life and not a self-deprecating one.

I think that one of the biggest things that set me apart from all my friends is that I am a staunch Christian. I was raised in a very conservative and religious home, and my folks brought me up in a God-fearing family with Christian virtues. While I initially thought that this was an asset growing up, it turned out that not everyone appreciates the way I view things and make decisions.
There was one time in my freshman year when my friends wanted to plan a shoplifting session at the department store and invited me to come along. Knowing that honesty was one of the core values of our home, I refused, hoping that they would understand. To my surprise, the people who I thought were my friends stopped talking to me from then on. It was the first time that I felt that I was judged for only wanting to do good deeds.
Another thing that makes me unique is that I like to do things my own way. Most of my friends tend to follow what the popular kids in school do, and I tend to go against the flow. I’ve realized that not all popular things are good for me and others, so I really take the time to think about whether or not jumping the bandwagon is worth it.
Finally, I am a unique person in the sense that I will always be honest about something, even if people won’t like what they will hear. I firmly believe that the truth sets people free, even if it is painful. There are some people who agree with me on this, but some friends think that white lies are okay if they will keep the other person from getting hurt. The Holy Bible teaches that honesty is one of God’s greatest commandments. I carefully study His Word and how it expects us to live our lives, and I am determined to live by it.
If I were being completely transparent, I have always thought that these traits would help me get along with everybody. But this changed when I entered high school. Even if I was a hardworking person and a team leader in various group projects, I could not get every person to appreciate my perspectives. A lot of them thought that Christian virtues were outdated and unfair, and it was difficult to explain why I heavily relied on applying them in my life endeavors.
I have since come to realize, thanks to my parents’ counsel, that I cannot please everybody. I should just remember why I believe in these things and celebrate how it can encourage others on many occasions.
Conclusion
Being a staunch Christian reminds me of how hard it is to find people with solid convictions and adhere to them during the litmus tests of life. I have been turned away many times because of my beliefs, but I have since learned not to take these moments personally as not everyone holds the same convictions I do.

Being honest and truthful makes me different in a world where people manipulate the truth to serve their own agendas. It is easy to be judged for your candor and be told that you are hard on people, but I always remind myself that it is better to be truthful than turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. Finally, not joining the popularity wagon makes me a unique person because it means that I do not easily adhere to uniformity.
Why Am I Unique Essay (Short Essay Sample) (200 words)
Today, I want to write about what makes me unique as a person. I am not in any way highly talented, nor am I the best candidate for any talent competitions. But I believe that I possess certain characteristics and traits that set me apart from the rest.
Three things make me different from others. First, I have distinctly Christian virtues, having been raised in a God-fearing family. I was always taught to follow everything that the Holy Bible teaches, even if it may cost me my friends and my popularity.
Second, I am a non-conformist. I don’t always do what other people are doing, even if they seem like popular choices. It is sometimes awkward when people don’t appreciate my rigidness on this matter, but I believe that it is important to stand by my core values.
Finally, I am an honest person. I make it a point to always say what I mean, and mean what I say. I don’t like to sugarcoat or tell white lies. I think it’s important to be a good friend by not withholding the truth from them, even if it hurts sometimes.
FAQs
What Are The Things That Make Someone Unique?
There isn’t necessarily one characteristic that makes a person unique from others. It is more likely the combination of characteristics that make someone distinctly different. The combination can involve perspectives and worldviews, values and beliefs, and personality traits. It can also be the type of friends you have, your childhood upbringing, and past experiences that have shaped you as a person, for the better or not.
How To Describe Unique Qualities About Yourself?
When writing about the things that set you apart from others, it’s important to approach your distinct characteristics as a set. Most people share similar characteristics, but it is usually the combination of these that distinguishes you from another individual. Assess yourself in the categories of personal history, experiences, culture, network, values, and even points of view. All of these things contribute to your uniqueness as a person.
Afterward, talk about how this affects your everyday life. How do your unique skills shape your relationships, your decision-making, and your responses to whatever life throws at you? For instance, if it hurts you to see a person suffering unjustifiably, how does this determine your choices? If you believe that guests bring good fortunes, how does this influence the way you and your family manage the home? If you are a hard worker, how is this reflected in your time management? If you are always looking for ways to seek justice, how does this affect your connection with broken people?
