How My Life Experiences Has Shaped The Person I am Today – 700 Word Long Essay

The choices we make and the people we live with define who we are. Our life stories depend on what chose when there were two different paths to take. Everyone experiences different events in life, some face severe challenges and some are only faced with fears, doubts, and uncertainty. Unlike others, my life was not a roller coaster of thrill and emotions as I have been a quiet person all my life. Yes, I made both good and bad decisions in my life but all that has led me to what I am today. In this essay, I will describe how my life experiences shaped me into the person that I am today.

1) Family Influence

Family is one of the most important aspects of any person’s life, mine was nothing different. I have 3 younger siblings, my father was an army man and my mother was a housewife. Being the eldest son I started taking care of my younger siblings from an early age and that influenced my own life a lot. I prioritized the needs and wants of my siblings more than myself. I even spent wholeheartedly whenever my siblings needed something, I did everything I could to make their life easier than mine ever was. I never tried to distance myself from my siblings but the hard fact is that they did. As they grew up their priorities in life changed and everything I did for them just faded away like a mist of time. However, I did not break emotionally I respected their space and gave them time to adjust matters on their own, which proved valuable.

When they started doing everything themselves, they realized how hard it was for me to tend to all their needs like a father. After they realized their mistakes they returned to me and we became a happy family. This showed me that you should always give other people time to adjust and should never remind them of what you did for them and how they should repay you. Time is the biggest teacher and time also heals the deepest of wounds so one should never be hasty and should always be patient.

2) Friends

I have always been blessed with good friends in my whole life. I never faced any problem in making new friends. While studying in middle school I made friends with my class fellow “Andrew”, he was a very loving and caring friend who was always ready to help me when I needed him. Andrew became my best friend and we started doing everything together. We had humble beginnings but after some time our life stories changed. Andrew became very rich after his dad became a successful businessman. Until I graduated from university Andrew became a proper drug addict and his father stopped supporting him financially. Andrew started gambling and all types of bad things to earn money for drugs. One day Andrew got killed as one of the Policemen shot him while he was trying to run away.

I was deeply saddened by his death and this was an experience that taught me a lesson that money and wealth are no guarantee for a successful life. I thought to myself that if he did not become a drug addict after his dad became so rich then he would never have gotten into drug addiction. These past experiences also made me realize that everything my parents taught me at a young age was correct. This proved to me that we should always listen to our elders and learn from their experiences.

3) Career and Passion

Deciding what we want to become or want to do for the rest of our lives has a great influence on our lives. After working as a factory manager for 20 years I have realized that a person should always follow his passion and should choose a career that feels fulfilling to him/her. Yes, we run into bumpy roads while following our passion but we should stick to it no matter how hard it looks. Things will get better if you try and try again and this is what happened to me. While talking about careers, I also want to confess that failures are always better teachers than success and accomplishments. There is no person who never faced failure in life. What really matters is how you react to that failure, do you fall and perish, or do you come back stronger?

4) Relationships

Love and relationships are fascinating but are far more delicate and easy to mishandle than they look. Based on my life experience I was fascinated by how I did everything to impress a girl that I like, it’s just crazy what love can do to you. Being a human being I also loved my parents and my siblings but that love was different from what I felt for that girl. However, now I realize that we should never be impatient about our relationships. Being patient is the key to having healthy relationships that last prosper. I also realized with my years of experience that all relationships are different and we should be respectful to all our relationships. My mother was the one person who has influenced me the most in my life, she was an amazing person herself and wanted me to become better than she ever was. Therefore we should always do whatever we can for our relationships.

An Experience That Changed My Life Essay – 300 Word Short Essay

Life experiences either good or bad leave a lasting impression on our lives. However, there are some experiences that completely change the course of our lives. Almost all of us had such life experiences that completely changed our lives. I also had one such experience that changed the course of my life. It was almost 9 years ago when I first visited an orphanage. I was 8 years old and I was nothing less than a spoiled child. I was never grateful to my parents no matter what they did for me until the high school trip that changed my life.

My school teachers asked us to bring anything that we want to donate to the orphanage children. My mother gave me some of my old toys and clothes to donate and I remember that I even cried not to donate my things. Our school bus stopped at an old orphanage and when we entered all the orphan children gathered in the main hall. I remembered looking at them in disbelief, it was some kind of dream, I never thought that there are children who are so poor and unfortunate. I started to have love and sympathy for them when I realized their situation.

Their life story was nothing less than a tragedy. No parents, no toys, never have enough to eat, and no one to complain to. One of the orphans told me that they only have 3 dresses that they used each season. They were unaware of feelings of love and affection, their lives were plain and their eyes were full of dreams. One of the orphan kids told me that he had no toys past summer and no child even donated his old toys.

I started to realize all my mistakes and how I was always arrogant about the countless blessings that I had. Through my own experiences, I realized that I have to become a better person. This experience also helped shape me to become a better version of myself. While getting higher education I also realized that people who donated to orphans are the real role models. I started to respect my parents and become more respectful to them. To this day I always visit different orphan homes and try to help the needy children as much as I can. So this was my life experience that completely changed my life in a positive way.
