The writing has to be informal/ semi-formal and regarding the personal examples, please take some examples of people of celebrities with the same disorders and how it has affected them (please make it personal and subjective).

I really like your topic and ideas! I’m looking forward to reading it. Few concerns/ideas/suggestions:

  1. Your structure seems to be in a really logical order. First introducing anxiety, speaking about the types etc.

  1. However:  Maybe, your article could be read more…. like a school essay. An article can/should - of course - inform readers. However, in order to inform, the article needs to grab the attention of potential readers first. I know, at school we get to know the “logical” way of structuring essays, argumentations etc. When it comes to articles though, you can be wayyy more creative (luckily!).

bear in mind: the article itself has to make sense and has to be coherent (there should be a “red line” within your article). There are also certain characteristics good articles share with each other à If you didn’t see it before, check out the word document (How to write an eMAG article: desirable features) on digicampus.

my suggestion:

->  you listed “personal experience” in the second part. I would recommend that you switch this one with the first part and starting off with your personal experience bcs this could grab the attention of the reader (creates empathy etc.): there you can (of course only if you feel comfortable with it) talk about a certain personal experience you had or, if this is too personal for you, talk about how you felt in a particular moment/ situation.. if you don’t want to talk about yourself maybe you could refer to a well-known character of a movie or book and describe, how the character experiences the panic attack.

-> from your personal experience you could get more general:

panic attack is one of type of anxiety etc. maybe you can include how many people are actually affected in Germany etc.

long story short, my suggestion for a structure would be as follows:

  1. “catchy” title (we will talk about that in more detail in one of the zoom meetings no worries)
  2. sub-title
  3. introductiory paragraph: (written in italics)
    1. your personal experience/ feeling/ etc. maybe you could also start off with a trigger alert

  1. first paragraph: (informs the reader of the main point) (sub-headings for each paragraph)
    1.  getting more general: panic disorder as one type of anxiety, what is anxiety?(maybe you can include the ICD 10 or the DSM 5 definition here?or maybe in an info box? just a suggestion) types of anxiety, focusing more on panic disorders)
    2.  my ideas / thought-provoking ideas: how many people are affected (in Germany?globally?)? is there also a trend maybe? do more people suffer from it nowadays compared to the past? if yes, why is that so?

  1. second paragraph:
    1. a.    now you can get more specific or more practical. You can say: since you have personal experiences on that subject-matter, you really know how it feels to experience a panic attack. Basically, you can introduce your already stated points here: What do panic attacks feel like? How does panic disorder affect the everyday life?

  1. 6.    third paragraph:
    1. a.    I absolutely like your idea of talking about reducing the risk of panic attacks and also showing strategies in order to fight it! this might really help someone :)you can leave that.

reminder: you have a word limit of 500 words! also: pls bear in mind that you do not have to use every idea of mine, especially if you don’t want to.

Influence of Anxiety Disorders on Life Quality
The new normal is fear, panic and anxiety. Today, stress is a fairly common issue in modern life at work, school, home and beyond. The avalanche of news (consider COVID-19) is complicating matters and exacerbating anxiety. The problem of anxiety runs deep in modern society a closer examination is important to understand what anxiety is, who experiences anxiety and, of course, ways to manage anxiety. This short essay aims, accordingly, to explain what anxiety is, types of anxiety, celebrities experiencing anxiety and possible ways to cope.
There are as many definitions of anxiety as experiences and types are. The National Health Service defines anxiety as “a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe” (“Overview: Generalized Anxiety Disorder in Adults”). This umbrella definition is barely helpful should no specification of symptoms – and types – are identified. There are, in fact, five major types of anxiety: (i) Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), (ii) Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), (iii) Panic Disorder, (iv) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and (v) Social Phobia (or Social Anxiety Disorder) (“What Are the Five Major Types of Anxiety Disorders?”). GAD is a type of anxiety generated from exaggerated worry and of minimal stimuli. OCD is a disorder characterized by repetitive behaviors. Panic Disorder, commonly referred to as “panic attack,” is a disorder characterized by unexpected and repeated instances of intense fear accompanied by physical symptoms such as chest pain, dizziness and difficulty in

breathing. PTSD, more recently associated with although not exclusive to returning veterans, is a
disorder generated from exposure to traumatic and wrenching events following physical harm or
a possibility thereof. The Social Phobia is, meanwhile, a di...
