The Evolution of Human Mating
The purpose of writing the article was to elaborate the human principle and to show how it has extended. This help in understanding of the human mating showing how both sexes display short and long terms mating tactics. The article shows the tendency of men displaying short term while women showing long term mating. It also put emphasis on how both men and women have developed mixed strategies on short term and long term mating (Gangestad & Simpson 2000). It shows that both sexes oscillate between short and long term mating due to environmental factors.
Several studies were put into consideration. The first one was sexual selection. The study analyzed two aspects, which are intrasexual competitive ability, and signals that appeals opposite sex. According to the study, different species portrays different ability to mate which is a direct relationship to their reproductive success. It says that in mammals mostly female are limited as far as reproductive resource is concerned thus they compete to attract male.
The other one is the adaptations. Certain individuals have traits that are genetically transferable giving them advantages in different variations of the environment. These traits show specificity, efficiency and bring economy in the production of certain beneficial effects towards individuals (Gangestad & Simpson 2000). The last one covered was evolution. It showed how individual needs time; energy and effort to meet major tasks that affect their fitness for them reproduce successfully.
The study was used to help people understand the reason why there is difference in the mating of different sexes. This has been shown using different studies. The research reviewed was that of the Trivers 1972, theory of sexual selection and parental investment....
