Tong Xia's critical analysis assignment provides a deep and comprehensive analysis of the prescribed piece. Initially, the author provided a brief overview of the focus on musical, non-musical, audience perception, and other nuances based on the elements and circumstances of 17th Century English opera. This was followed by a more thorough analysis of other elements such as restoration prints and an in-depth analysis of the significance of the pieces of evidence for this project. However, I realized one crucial point was that there were little to no quotes in her article. I base this, of course, on the presence of quotation marks, which I did not frequently find throughout the essay. Nonetheless, I believe that this was not fatal to her analysis and that the shift from general to specific analysis backed with sufficient evidence made her article in-depth, comprehensive, and credible.
Tong Xia's interpretation of the whole scene was in-depth and critical, yet simple. She could couch her analysis in simpler terms that anyone who reads it would find her usage of words easy to the eye. I even enjoyed reading her analysis because the combination of simpler terms and the smooth-flowing structure of the essay would help the reader further improve his understanding of the material.
Aside from this, I also believe that Tong Xia was able to find significance throughout the essay. This is exemplified by her reflections on how this knowledge applies to various situations. For example, it was clear that she even related her ideas to ...
