Find three research articles (journal articles or book chapters) on The role of Drama in society. They should investigate this topic with two different methods, ideally one based on the quantitative – experimental paradigm, the other on the qualitative paradigm. Summarize the three studies briefly, describe their methodology, and critique the methodology and the conclusions they draw from their results.
In your review, you should start out with a description of the issue that is being investigated. Then describe how the three studies investigated this issue, so you need to summarize their methodology sections. You can do that either study by study or you can compare them as you go along. Also, briefly summarize their findings.
The most important part of the paper is your critical review of the three studies: Which do you find the most convincing? Why? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the methodologies used? Do you think that the results are trustworthy and that the conclusions the authors draw from their findings are valid? Are they more valid for one of the studies than others? Why?

This paper will analyze three research articles by various authors investigating the role of drama in English language learning. The three articles are The Role of Drama in Improving Students' English from the Teachers' Perspective by Tahani Refa'at and Khalil Bsharat, The Effect of Using Drama in English Language Learning among Young Learners: A Case Study of 6th Grade Female Pupils in Sakaka City by Nasser Alasmari and Amal Alshae'el, and Using Dramatic Activities in an English-Language Arts Classroom to Improve Student Comprehension of Literature by Justin Mark Tanner.
Refa'at and Bsharat (2015) sought to identify the role of drama in improving students' English from the perspective of the teacher. The authors employed the descriptive statistical approach entailing a peer-reviewed 20-item questionnaire that was distributed among the study participants. For data analysis, they used the SPSS program. The study population constituted 31 male and female primary school English teachers in Jenin Directorate during the second learning sessions of the school year 2013/2014. Alasmari and Alshae'el (2020) studied the effect of employing drama in English lessons among primary students. Their study sample consisted of forty 6th graders from two primary schools in the city of Sakaka, Saudi Arabia.
The research was executed over a two-month period in the second term of the academic year 2018/2019. Data was gathered via a classroom observation checklist and an English language test comprising of 20 multiple questions. Both data collection tools were peer-reviewed, and the results analyzed using the SPSS program. Tanner (2016) sought to investigate the effects of drama on student understanding of literature. The author employed ten students as focal subjects in observational studies, interviews, and surveys and 65 junior students as study samples in surveys, document analysis, and observations. The study took place over an eight-week period in an 11th grade English classroom in Washington state. A multi-phase strategy was employed to scrutinize the data.
Refa'at and Bsharat (2015) found that drama helped students improve their reading and writing skills, their self-esteem and communication skills, their comprehension abilities, as well as their performance in English tests.
