Trauma is a motif in The Great Gatsby, a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald published in 1925. The novel narrates the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, who happens to be a millionaire in pursuit of the love of his youth, Daisy, which he lost while serving in the army. The research will aim to examine how trauma caused by WWI is represented in Fitzgeralds’ work. Therefore, questions include: How is trauma caused by WWI represented in Fitzgerald's work?
