Having a commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) means consistently enforcing and supporting policies and programs that steer the representation and participation of different people. EDI considers different individuals regardless of their genders, races, religions, cultures, and sexual preferences. A solid commitment to EDI entails embracing and understanding the differences in people (diversity), treating them fairly and justly regardless of their differences (Equity), and welcoming them to participate and contribute to social programs (Inclusion) freely. I have been in environments where diversity, equity, and inclusion are highly practiced, and over time, I have understood how EDI is important both in school and at the workplace. For instance, my recent work experience as an associate software engineer at Tesla exposed me to diverse people, where I got to work and collaborate with people from all over the world. I learned to appreciate their differences and abilities, treat them justly, and include them in different programs as required. Working in different companies and undertaking research and projects made me understand diverse people and their origins.
