The Morongo Bands of Mission Indians currently living in Riverside County, California were forcibly removed and relocated from their Southern California homeland like other mission Indians in the nineteenth century. Even though, the Morongo standards of living have improved from the 1980s when gaming was allowed in the reservations, many other Mission Indians of California live in poverty and human rights violations against them do not receive much attention in the public domain.
