Conflict resolution through effective communication Research Paper

Research Paper Instructions:

All reference articles should be from within the past five years.
Paper 1- Conflict resolution through effective communication: This assignment is important for the student to be able to get feedback early in the course on their writing efforts. Students should write a 4-7-page paper exploring how to effectively communicate during a conflict. List a past experience when you had a personal experience with conflict and how it was handled at that time then use the literature to support how you would handle the same situation currently. If you have taken any conflict resolution courses include those and what your learned from the course. Being able to effectively communicate is critical to being a good leader and being able to give constructive criticism without being hurtful will enhance your role as a leader. I suggest doing a literature search and finding at least 2 articles on conflict resolution tools and/or effective communication and then write a synthesis using proper citations (remember all articles should be from a peer reviewed journal) and personal experience. The EMU library is available for you to use from home for your convenience. The paper should include a title page, abstract of 150 words or less and use at least two references of which at least one should have been retrieved electronically (meaning you could use a book and an article). APA format is required and expected for all papers. See Appendix for grading rubric. Paper length – a maximum of 7 pages.

Conflict Resolution Through Effective Communication
Abstract
Conflicts in operating rooms are inevitable. Physicians working together should relate well with each other and should not allow the differences between them to affect the patient care adversely. In particular, operating rooms are volatile and complex environments where physicians work under high-pressure to make life-saving decisions. As such, if conflicts occur in this place, it can affect the teamwork effectiveness of physicians in the operating room, which might lead to troubled relationships. Effective communication is an effective conflict resolution strategy that enhances the development of trusting relationships. When doctors and nurses communicate well, they understand each other and make decisions for the best interests of their patients. They even put their differences aside and focus on improving healthcare services. The paper focuses on the significance of effective communication in resolving conflicts in the operating room.
Conflicts between physicians in the operating room are inevitable. In some cases, healthcare professionals working together disagree on several things since everyone has a unique perspective. Without effective conflict resolution strategies, some of these individuals can engage in physical or verbal abuse since they do not know how to control their temper. A team cannot function effectively without its members communicating well and solving the existing disputes. For this reason, effective communication is the most significant thing when addressing workplace conflicts. In particular, it entails the use of verbal and non-verbal cues to relay the information in a comprehensible way. In other words, the receiver must listen to the sender keenly and understand the points communicated before responding. Communication is vital since it brings people together by making them not trespass personal boundaries. For instance, for individuals to communicate effectively, they must put aside their differences in culture, race, religion, gender, and skin color, among other things that define them. Effective communication is the most appropriate conflict resolution strategy since it fosters proper understanding among physicians in the operating room through the development of trusting relationships.
After being a nurse for 22 years, I have encountered several conflicts in my career. Most importantly, despite these disputes, I have come across, they do not hinder me from prioritizing my patients’ needs. I know that my primary objective is to improve people’s lives by ensuring that they are given the best treatment that they deserve to recover quickly. One of the most significant conflicts between the physician in charge of operation and me happened in the operating room. I was in the operating room, preparing for a joint replacement operation for one of my patients. When arranging the necessary instruments, I found out that the surgical equipment pan was contaminated and it was the kind not to be removed through “flashed sterilization.” The procedure for joint replacement was extremely imperative for the patient...
