(Use Google Scholar if you do not have access to an academic search database through your institution). ❒ Choose your own sources, but use no more than three websites (there is no limit on the number of online scholarly journals used). ❒ Thoroughly check the formatting requirements for the different source types. ❒ After each relevant entry indicate the source type in parentheses (book, peer-reviewed journal, newspaper/magazine, or credible website). B. Reflection Questions Guidelines DIRECTIONS: Below your assignment, include answers to all of the following reflection questions. Accurately recording bibliographic information is essential and saves you time, as you can transfer this information to the References page of your drafted essay. Each source entry should include a brief summary of the source as well as 3-4 sentences describing how you intend to use that source to build or support your argument. Discuss how your annotated bibliography meets these criteria. (2-3 sentences) Which strategies were most helpful for you when searching for credible sources? (2-3 sentences) What difficulties did you face while searching for credible sources? How did you overcome these difficulties? (2-3 sentences) Keep in mind: Refer to the list below throughout the reflection process. Do not submit your Touchstone until it meets these guidelines. ❒ Have you answered all reflection questions thoughtfully and included insights, observations, and/or examples in all responses? ❒ Are your answers included on a separate page below the main assignment? Touchstone 2.2 Student Name Institutional Affiliation Date Touchstone 2.2 PART A: ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY Allen, R. W., & Barn, P. (2020). Individual-and household-level interventions to reduce air pollution exposures and health risks: a review of the recent literature. Current environmental health reports, 7, 424-440. The article reviews peer-reviewed literature on individual and household-level interventions to mitigate air pollution. It advocates the use of air purifiers in indoor settings, wearing facemasks for both indoor and outdoor locations, and behavior modification like closing windows at home. The study establishes that HEPA filter air purifiers can substantially reduce indoor PM2.5 concentrations and improve subclinical health indicators. Similarly, wearing facemasks can reduce exposure, especially in outdoor settings where HEPA filter purifiers. Behavior modification like closing windows can minimize exposure to outdoor pollutants. I will use the study to demonstrate there are multiple ways of mitigating air pollution including HEPA, facemasks, and behavior modifications. Li, C., Bai, L., He, Z., Liu, X., & Xu, X. (2021). The effect of air purifiers on the reduction in indoor PM2. 5 concentrations and population health improvement. Sustainable Cities and Society, 75, 103298. The article indicates that air pollution is among the most important global health issues. The global mean PM2.5 in 2019 was 43 µg/m3, with the highest reported in India at 83.2 µg/m3. The authors contend that the high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) can remove more than 99.97% of 0.3-µm fine particles from the air. The study analyzes the real-world efficacy of HEPA filters and establishes their effectiveness for communities with air pollution problems. I will use this study to show that HEPA is effective in filtering air and hence can be used to address air pollution in communities. Liao, J., Ye, W., Pillarisetti, A., & Clasen, T. F. (2019). Modeling the impact of an indoor air filter on air pollution exposure reduction and associated mortality in Urban Delhi household. International journal of environmental research and public health, 16(8), 1391. The article investigates the long-term effects of air filters for reducing PM2.5 in the context of India. The researchers conduct 20 simulations of yearlong exposure to PM2.5 in urban Delhi. The results demonstrate that all-day use of high-efficiency particle air (HEPA) would reduce exposure to PM2.5 reducing mortality attributed to air pollution by 8-37%. I will use the article to demonstrate the long-term effects of air filters in reducing exposure to PM2.5. It will highlight how air filters can significantly improve air quality for households. This will be critical in showing that air filters can significantly reduce mortality attributable to air pollution. Rawat, N., & Kumar, P. (2023). Interventions for improving indoor and outdoor air quality in and around schools. Science of the Total Environment, 858, 159813. Rawat and Kumar focus on different interventions to improve the air quality in and around learning institutions. The researchers acknowledge that since students spend about one-third of their typical day in school, they may be exposed to harmful air pollu...
