Understanding both the mechanisms and importance of dreams is perhaps one of the most exciting topics in psychology. This is because dreams are one of the most common yet little understood phenomena in a person’s daily life. In the video by Orwig (2018), entitled “How Lucid Dreaming Works,” the narrator discussed the very idea of lucid dreaming. According to one of the experts that talked during the video, lucid dreaming happens when a person “starts to gain volitional control” over the events and circumstances that are happening within the dreams. In some cases, this control also makes the dreamer remember about what happened during the dream or know that they are within a dream itself.
