Theater Report
The movie has its plot developed with a great sense of emotions and touches a little on deep themes that are spiritual to the viewer. It is based on a famous play written by Thornton Wilder and is thought to be one of the greatest plays in the United States. The film’s plot surrounds a story of two small families believed to live between the year 1900 and 1903. It deals with a subject of afterlife deeply and in a nostalgic way but has its ending admirably tentative. Its narration, however, might seem boring to the viewer as there is a lot of it in the movie. Despite that, the movie is very touching and emotional as well.
The movie “Our town” has been given the Hollywood touch. It is a great film adaptation. The movie came out in 1940 and its lead actors include William Holden, Martha Scott, Fay Bainter, Beulah Bondi, Thomas Mitchell, Guy Kibbee and Frank Craven. It was adapted by Harry Chandlee, Craven and Wilder. The movie’s production is an outstanding work done by William C. Menzies. It is directed by Sam Wood.
The movie’s genre is drama as all the happenings are dramatized versions of the play. The direction of the movie is relevant to the context, themes and plots as depicted in the movie. The director chose to portray the events in a flowing manner as transition of the movie is depicted from scenes and acts. Although the movie “Our Town” was slow, the director included all the things that were necessary in the movie. From this point of view, I cannot compare this movie with any of Sam Wood’s other movies but this was an outstanding.
The movie’s Cinematography employs an emotion attachment technique in that its scenes contains acts the emotionally connects with the viewer. The setting of the movie is relevant to the themes and plot that are exhibited in the movie. The background relates to costumes used by the characters and every act in the scenes get relevance from the setting, background as well as costumes employed in the movie. The tone created by all this aspects employed in the movie by the director engages the viewers to the tone that is depicted in the movie.
The script of the movie, characterization as well as dialogue included is not predictable. Viewers cannot predict what will happen next and this aspect keeps the viewers engaged...
