Security is a major threat affecting a significant number of countries in the contemporary world. Last week, the congressmen announced a bill; "The American Security against Foreign Enemies (SAFE) Act 2015." One of the major reasons that engendered the announcement is the recent attacks by the ISIS in Paris and the rising insecurity. Notably, the bill prevents entrance of individuals from Syria and other Middle East countries such as Iraq into the United States until a thorough scrutiny of their identity is done by the Director of National Intelligence. It has a responsibility to enact laws for the protection of Americans.
In an article in the New York Times, Kevin Cramer said that even though the US has been compassionate for a long period, it had come a time when they need to vigilant and prevent serious attacks such as those that happened in Paris.1 The Congress is a sovereign legislative section of the federal government, therefore, if the country is threatened or there are signs of serial attacks, It takes an initiative to take the necessary measures to protect the citizens. The bill also demands the Department of Home Security Administration to produce a monthly report that shows the number of both successful and unsuccessful applicants from Syria and Iraq for further scrutiny.
