What was your initial impression or stereotype of the Austrians, before you read the reading? 
My initial impression about the Austrians is that they share many similarities with Germans. Austrians are depicted as being punctual peope who take great lengths to schedule meetings and would rather be early to a meeting rather than simply be on time. Even though, they may not provide much information as they are reserved additionally, they may seem to be fond of beer as Vienna holds its own version of the Oktoberfest. Having been surrounded by communist nations after WWII, Austrians has elements of authoritarianism in business leadership (Sheehan, 2003).
Did you learn anything new or were you surprised by anything regarding the Austrian,culture?
One of the most surprising things on Austrian culture is that the role of leadership and status which may influence who gets ahead in the job market. Hence, it is important to take note or rank and position, as the decisions makers have more give direction on business negotiation (kwintessential, n.d.) As a western European country, it would be appear that business leadership is more democratic, but it is not the case in the country.
