Ray Dalio Principles
Dalio’s (2011) 5th principle states that one should have integrity and demand it from others in an organization. Having integrity ensures that the relationships between colleagues can remain respectful and trustworthy. Furthermore, the reciprocal nature required of this principle provides the opportunity for open criticism aimed at correcting mistakes. It also guides people's behavior in the organization, thus developing a culture that requires integrity in all individuals. Such characteristics thus set people apart from others since they can be trusted to make the right decisions without compromising their own beliefs.
Additionally, the 41st principle recognizes that by large, one will get what they deserve. In an organization, hard work will ultimately pay off once efforts become recognized by others (Dalio, 2011). Consequently, patience will come in handy at this stage to ensure that I can work to achieve my goals and prove my worth. As an employee, recognition might lack at different steps leading to frustrations, especially in instances of career stagnation. Therefore, while employment objectives involve promotions to higher levels, these expectations must be appropriately handled to reduce job frustrations. Thus, the focus must remain on increasing efforts to deliver on performance targets, after which rewards will follow.
The 52nd principle focusses on hiring right because hiring the wrong people can have enormous consequences (Dalio, 2011).
