Note: Module 3 SLP should be completed before the Module 3 Case.
The Module 3 Case study is an Argumentative essay in which the writer takes a stance on technology and children and provides three or more supporting points as support.
After reflecting on “The Impact of Technology on the Developing Child” and “Is the Internet hurting children?" write a well-organized and well-supported essay on technology and children.
A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. The beginning, or introduction, should include an opening sentence to grab your reader’s attention. Follow the opening sentence with a brief background on the topic or situation. In this case, it would be brief summary on technology and children today. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis states the main point of the essay, which in this case, would be a statement affirming the impact of technology on children today.
A well-supported essay includes supporting points, details, and examples. For this essay, you must decide the best way to organize the body of the paper. Will you have one or two paragraphs for each supporting point? Will you divide the body of your paper into three or more paragraphs, one for each point? In any case, each body paragraph must support (explain) your reasoning (rationale) using specific details. Each body paragraph must have a topic sentence that states the main point of the paragraph, which in this case would be each supporting point.
This essay must include no less than EIGHT citations from:
ONE of the assigned background materials for Module 3 and
ONE additional credible and reliable source selected by the student.
Citations are to be a combination of direct quotations and paraphrased quotations with or without the author's name.
The conclusion typically summarizes the main points of the essay and/or closes with a lasting impression that connects the reader to their world. In this case, where do we go from here?
The essay must also include a Reference List.
Be sure to proofread your essay and edit for proper grammar, punctuation, diction (word choice), and spelling, as errors in sentence skills will lower a final grade. A grade will be determined based on the Module 3 Case expectations and the Trident University General Education rubric for English.
Papers must be double-spaced in Times or Times New Roman font (12 cpi) with standard one-inch margins.
The first person "I" is not used in a formal essay, nor is the passive "you." In place of "you," "one" may be used.

Introduction
It is nearly impossible to compare children of the past with those of today. As times change, so does technology and the need to incorporate it into one’s life. The difference between these generations is therefore expected since technology plays a significant role in people’s lives. Technology affects children in both positive and negative ways. However, the internet is doing more harm than good to children (Bhattacharyya & National Council of Educational Research and Training, 2004). 
Technology and Physical Development
In the recent past, children would actively engage in outdoor activities for fun. It was an integral part of one’s early developmental stages. Outdoor games could go on late into the night, and it would take a parent’s intervention to force children into the house when play time was over. Getting children to abandon their biking activities was met with much protest from the children. Such were the days when children could run around with a football or could build forts with their hands. Those days are long gone.
At the moment, children rely on technology for the majority of their play. With the introduction of gadgets such as iPads, children would rather play games on them than run around the yard (Bergen, Davis & Abbott, 2016). They are so much engrossed on the television screens playing video games that the thought of games like hiding and seeking are far from their minds. Instead of participating actively in sports, children now virtually sit in front of their computers and bet on the teams that they think could win.
Technology has evidently replaced play time. One should realize the importance of outdoor physical activities especially in children. Outdoor activities factor in greatly on the body’s motor development. Children learn coordination through activities such as riding a bicycle. Diagnoses of coordination disorder are on the rise both in Canada and in the United States majorly because children would rather stay glued to their Android phones playing games as opposed to skipping ropes out in the sun. It is a worrying trend. Additionally, the number of obese children is on the rise because they are becoming more dormant by the day (Bergen, Davis & Abbott, 2016).
Technology and Sensory development
Some years back, children’s visual world was limited to nature. They could react to insect bites that could heal in the shortest time possible and could be forgotten in the same breath. They could get annoyed with a friend who did not want to share a doll with them, and that would last no longer that a few moments. Getting over these simple stresses was as easy as pie. Today, the situation is entirely different.
The virtue of impatience reigns in the use of technology. People get impatient when it takes two seconds to download a video clip (Hart, 2013). One is annoyed when there is a slow connection to the internet, and they were looking up the meaning of an individual word. Children respond no differently to their interaction with technology.
