The feminist therapy approach is appropriate for counseling individual clients, marriage clients, and family client, as the approach recognizes that gender-role socialization affects how people make decisions. Male and female clients have different ways of expressing their thoughts while they may have internalized messages that are unique to each gender. The other theories fail to account for gendered differences unlike the feminist approach that integrates the socio-cultural influences. The feminist theory is an integrated analysis of focusing on individual and social identities, power dynamics and healthy family functioning (Prouty, Thomas, Johnson, & Long, 2011).

Feminist therapy is appropriate for different clients and the approach integrates gender analyses unlike the other counseling approaches. Both the feminist and solution-focused therapy encourages building collaborative relationship and clear therapeutic goals. Feminist therapy is still better since the cultural context is considered in counseling sessions, as there are problems that emerge because of socio-cultural structures of the society (Sharf, 2015). Clients may have developed certain narratives because of their surroundings, and the narrative therapy is appropriate when clients ought to learn a new perspective (Sharf, 2015).
