Culture tend to shape the counselling approaches used in any given group (Dawod, 2015). When working with a group that has more than one cultural background, it is crucial that the differences are incorporated. The African American society is highly sensitive of sharing their mental and health challenges in public. As stated in the post, this is relative to the upbringing approaches. As such, it is crucial that the participants in the groups are led by leaders who have had similar experiences. This give confidence to the rest of the group and further creates trust and cohesion (Dawod, 2015).
2-2 Bethanne
As Bethanne states in the post, culture defines the way that different people view and interact with the world around them. Different cultures have different values and they have to be incorporated in the groups to make sure that the members feel respected and appreciated (Espiritu, 2016). As Bethanne state, is crucial that members are encouraged to share their experiences with the rest of the group. Sharing helps the members to lighten the psychological pressure associated with the experiences.
