Censorship is simply the suppression of images, ideas, or words that are relatively offensive. It usually occurs when some people succeed in imposing personal moral or political values on others. It can be carried out by the private pressure groups as well as the government. However, government-imposed censorships are unconstitutional. Censorship of sex and violence on TV is not necessary because it does little to prevent sexual abuse and violence
In contrast, when private groups or individuals boycott against stores that sell magazines which they disapprove, they are protected by the First Amendment.
