Crime Scene Reconstruction is the process of creating an order of happenings about an incident through studying, analyzing and interpreting evidence (Lee, 2008). The use of reconstruction results enables clarification of events and assists in reminding the victims and witnesses present at the time of crime, about the events that took place. When the process helps, a victim remember, the reconstruction needs to happen at the same time, same location, same day to reinvent the occurrence as precisely as possible. Investigators use different sources of information to get relevant facts for reconstructing the past. The methods are scientific methods, collected facts, reasoning logically, and experiences, sequences created through an elaborate re-enactment or easy mental exercises.
High-ranking criminalists, detective, retired detectives, and a few consultants often do reconstruction from fields of anthropology, sociology, history, religion and engineering (Bevel and Gardner, 2008). Consultants can be useful in investigating crimes that are fresh; they can occasionally work with facts and documents later that involve physical evidence, statements from witnesses and expert reports. The information like angle shot, distance and breadth of bloodstains and patterns of wounds are significant to most professionals. It is critical to note that reconstruction is not similar to re-recreating the crime scene or re-enacting the scene of crime. Crime re-enactment does not need criminalists or scientific values. It happens in courtrooms when defense solicitors show a computer generated real presentation to support their evidence on what occurred in the crime.
Scientific method in crime reconstruction requires the investigator to state the problem by looking at crime committed, legal basics of the crime, and the features of the influence where the offense took place.
