Introduction
“Why the insurance industry?” I settled for working as an underwriter in the insurance industry. The reason for the choice is that is more or less guaranteed to influence people’s lives in one way or another. Every person or institution in the country needs to be insured. For example, people needs to insure their houses, health, employers need to insure their premises to protect the livelihoods of their employees, or the need for younger people to act as beneficiaries of a loved one’s estate (Goodwin, et al., 2019). Therefore, I saw that the industry is part of the real life and concluded that to make things happen, the industry needed people who were capable of risk.
In order to assess whether my choice is valid, it is first necessary to consider whether obtain work in the insurance sector is feasible once one attains the required educational standards. According to the most recent iteration of the semi-Annual U.S, insurance labor outlook study, it was observed that the insurance industry had the intentions of increasing their staff. Furthermore, an insurance underwriter earns an average salary of $76880 per year. When this is translated, an underwriter earns an Average hourly wage $37 per hour (WIRE, 2020).
