Growing up in a family that struggled to access the basic needs of life most especially proper health care, I always dreamt of becoming a nurse. I knew this would be a jewel in my mother’s crown and I fought tooth and nail to let this dream come alive; for myself and my entire family. Walking into the district health center as an intern was proof that I was getting closer to the goal. I was a second year nursing student, and I was both timid and excited about what the future had in store for me. More than ever, I knew that the odds were for me.
At the reception, I met a middle aged female nurse who, by her facial expression was expecting me.
