As Karen is about to expand their business, they need to know the basics of business intelligence. This is because they will be required to use it to collect data from various business applications to improve the competitiveness of Great Day Fitness Tracking.
What is business intelligence? It is actually a collection of technologies and strategies used for data collection or data analysis. Business intelligence technologies or strategies make it easy for us to get predictive and current views and historical information about particular businesses or business operations. For example, if Karen wants to know who the competitors of their business are, then they first need to collect relevant data using a business intelligence software or tool. Later on, the data will be analyzed.
Some of the most common functions of business intelligence technologies are reporting, data mining, event processing, analytics, business performance management, text mining, and benchmarking. It may not be possible for Karen to know all these things, but they have to know how to collect data, where to collect it from and how to analyze it.
