Most organization leaders, especially those in the field of medicine have at some point in their career made decisions with possible ethical consequences. Leaders usually encounter these dilemmas in instances where their ability to make sound decisions are hindered by conflicting beliefs and values from fellow health care providers (LaSala & Dana, 2010). The resistance during decision-making and problem-solving intensifies due to change in management or leadership. In such instances, the health practitioners may experience a significant degree of moral distress in taking care of patients and relating with the organization's leaders.
There are several ways to solve the ethical dilemma, which may have devastating effects in service delivery if not addressed appropriately. First, it is important for the leader to demonstrate moral courage when facing ethical challenges (Lachman, John, & Karen, 2012).
