Role of the American Nurses Association in health care policy
The American Nurses Association is an organization that represents the interests of all professional registered nurses across the US. The major issues and programs involve professional code of ethics, quality, leadership, advanced practice, specialty practice as well as the legacy of the nursing specialty. In the last two years, the organization has increased awareness of the nursing profession and medical care issues for policy makers through provision of appropriate solutions. The legislative and regulatory policies developed by the organization aim at increasing the powers of the professionals in the workplace by protecting them as well as the patients. The organization has helped in lobbying for legislation of policies that require health care facilities to develop appropriate, safe patient handling programs as well as introduction of safe patient handling techniques and equipment (American Nurses Association, 2016).
