Present advances in the nursing field have focused on the incorporation of nursing expertise with the relevant skills, through the development of a well-educated human resource. Such a workforce is technically and professionally adept at solving the current health problems. The education and the relevant knowledge obtained in the colleges, and the overlying curriculum, essentially ties towards this end. It, therefore, becomes the foundations of Associate Degree as well as Baccalaureate Degree. In as much as these two forms of certifications might seem similar, they have major differences especially when it comes to nursing care as well as the approach to the decision making strategy of each.

Within this 4-5 year period, two years are usually dedicated to the general nursing training, while the remaining 3 years focuses on core nursing courses. These three years usually prepare a nurse for not only the graduate studies but also provide one with the specialization in a number of nursing competencies. It also gives the student the chance to acquire the experience and professionalism needed in the nursing field. To become a registered nurse after doing this course, one is given the chance to take the NCLEX exams (Creasier & Freeberg, 2011).

It also provided individuals with the chance to acquire vocational training. This degree program provided the military nurses with the chance to be even more and more conversant with the distinct nursing programs.
