There is a growing recognition that skin cancer affects more people than previous thoughts, but misunderstandings and lack of information about the condition make it difficult to undertake prevention programs. The project is intended to sensitize people about the dangers of skin care and how to protect themselves. Beliefs and attitudes influence whether people seek medical attention, and with the growing popularity of tan beds, there is a need to be more to sensitize people about the dangers of such choices. Skin cancer is the most preventable compared to other forms of cancer, since people have to make conscious choices to limit exposure to the sun and tanning.
The campaign highlighted the problem of skin cancer and difficulties in effecting change. The proposed strategies to facilitate sun protective behaviors will be effective since the campaign is targeted at a vulnerable demographic group. The young people at Texas State need to be made aware how to reduce skin damaged associated with skin cancer. In reaching out to this group helps to promote the stated objectives, while the benefits of sun protection were identified as being critical to the success of the campaign. Nonetheless the campaign faced difficulties since there were different perceptions of susceptibility to skin cancer limited the success of interventions undertaken.
