Goods-to-person and automated delivery robots can handle such repetitive tasks as transporting and picking with optimal speed and accuracy. These technologies reduce the risks of manual labor demand and human errors, leading to efficiency improvements. Driverless vehicles and drones can expedite delivery processes by averting traditional transport systems, decreasing delivery costs and time. Moreover, 3D printing facilitates on-demand production, doing away with comprehensive inventory management, reducing lead times, and lowering transportation costs (Schniederjans et al., 2020). Organizations can maximize supply chain operations, attain efficiency, and promote responsiveness by leveraging the above technologies.
Integrating such technologies as drones and robotics, and business analytics facilitates organizations to leverage improved real-time monitoring and visibility in the supply chain. The technologies produce massive data which organizations can analyze to gain significant insights into the supply chain performance and status.
