review current ethics, democracy and leadership headlines, both domestic and international. You will be writing and submitting a paper on a current event where ethics, leadership and/or democracy are intertwined. It has been said that "Recognizing the existence of an ethical problem is the first step in resolving it" (Rest, J. R., 1994). Your goal will be to identify and offer analysis on a current event from the headlines, then evaluate and synthesize your thoughts on the situation, culminating in thoughtful, theory based recommendations.
IDENTIFY & ANALYZE: Examine the ethical dimensions of the topic, clearly identifying the challenges and conflicts the issue presents. You should identify some of the opposing viewpoints discussed in the headlines regarding your topic. What ethical theories support various positions taken by key stakeholders? Make sure you are addressing the ethical dimensions of your topic not the legal aspects.
EVALUATE: Explain why this issue has interest and concern to stakeholders and the community at-large. Why do decisions made about this topic have implications for society as a whole? What responsibility does the organization or stakeholders involved have to the community as a whole? What responsibilities does the public have regarding the issue?
SYNTHESIZE: What challenges are presented to individuals and/or organizations around this topic? Why is this a topic of concern? How might others in leadership from today’s organizations be affected by this?
RECOMMENDATION: Finally, what do you recommend in terms of best practices or action steps that may be taken by those involved? What have you learned from exploring this topic? What might some recommended future actions be for those facing similar circumstances?

Ethics in Action
All employees have the responsibility of managing accountability for all the roles they play at work. Although they can face challenges when trying to identify the right decision to make, they should always consider the ethics desired at their workplace before implementing any action. In this case, any ethical dilemma must be handled well to ensure the welfare of the organization, colleagues, employers, and the community. Instances like having a severe health condition require moral reasoning and consideration of ethics to ensure the implementation of the right decision (Kwame, 2020). The step taken should not only focus on the wellbeing of the organization and the other people depending on it for livelihood but also on the welfare of the affected employee. However, the employee has the duty of reporting her case to respective authorities in the firm to pave the way for the decision-making process to commence.
Although the sick lady might not have the capability of revealing her health condition, she should apply virtue ethics theory and implement a decision that institutes excellent professional relationships. Having the employer as her mentor who can eventually become a friend even after losing the job should push her into revealing her condition if not for everything else for the person leading her in every aspect of life (Kwame, 2020). On the other hand, the sick employee needs her job, health, and maintenance of an excellent relationship with her employer. Will keeping the condition a secret not break the existing trust between her and the mentor? How will her duty and responsibility in the company turn out? Also, the company has the task of making the right decision after the realization of the truth about the employees' health condition.
The primary concern in the issue is the output of the employee may gradually reduce due to the impact of the chronic disease. “I recognize that some of the potential requirements of my new job frequent travel, increased responsibilities, extended time away from my instrumental supports may be unsustainable 12 months from now, if not sooner (Kwame, 2020)." Having the underlying workload and also the essential requirement to access the desirable health care services will pose a significant challenge to the employee. Hence, she will be forced to prioritize either of the issues while the other is failing. Focusing on work to meet all the stipulated requirements will detriment the health condition of the employee.
On the other hand, neglecting the job requirement to concentrate on getting better will affect the organization. Also, the act is morally wrong, and the employee should choose the right path in consideration of the code of ethics in the workplace. Knowing the extent of her duties is a starting point for her to identify whether she can balance her job and the health condition, or she should take a break from one to enhance the welfare of both. Battling with the health condition is bound to affect the job strata resulting in issues like incomplete tasks or absolute failure in work projects. What will become of the organization under this situation? Considering her position as senior employee iterat...
