Literature refers to written works on particular subjects affecting society. Literature can be fiction or non-fiction, where fiction stories are based on imaginable stories that never happened while non-fiction is based on real happening and characters. On the other hand, empathy refers to the ability to emotionally understand what other people are going through, feel and see things from their point of view, as well as imagine yourself in their situation. Based on the definition of these concepts, I believe that reading literature can help people develop greater empathy.
