Importance to you: Explain the value of the source to you. Include specific pieces of information that will be useful in supporting your arguments

Relation to other sources: Explain what the source provides (e.g. statistical data, research studies, expert advice/opinions, etc.). Explain how it is different than but complements your other sources

Katel, P. (2011). Teen drug use. CQ Researcher, 21, 481-504. Retrieved from http://library.cqpress.com/

Michelle Lipinski thinks it is a difficult job for teens trying to overcome addictions. The expanded decriminalization of marijuana in Massachusetts has made the challenge all the more daunting. Mixed messages about drug legalization, particularly marijuana, may be to blame

This source explains why the number of kids who are using drugs has been rising. It is because of marijuana decriminalization; it effectively promotes drug use by young people

The relation of this source to the others is in the fact that its umbrella topic is teenage addiction. This source is quite crucial in my study as it focuses on the factors that appear to be driving teens towards substance abuse. Aside from mentioning the factors, it continues to explain how each factor appears to influence the decisions teens make especially with regards to substance use.

Walker provides expert opinion and also makes use of credible sources thus making it an objective account of teen substance abuse.

National Institute on Drug Abuse. (2017). Monitoring the future survey: high school and youth trends. NIH. Retrieved October 29, 2018, from /publications/drugfacts/monitoring-future-survey-high-school-youth-trends

This article is about the present and future trends. Apparently, compared to the previous years, substance abuse among teenagers has been decreasing which is a good sign. In 2016, the article reports that substance use among teenagers reached historically low levels. The article then continues to offer specific statistics regarding the use of opioids, marijuana, alcohol, nicotine and tobacco, and synthetic drugs.

This source is quite relevant because of the statistical information regarding substance abuse among teenagers that it provides. The da...
