The purpose of this memorandum is to address an ongoing rule, stack ranking that has brought much contention among employees in our organization. Following our vision of creating a great workplace where everyone is inspired to do their best, this proposal discredits the stack ranking policy. It suggests implementing an employee communication guidelines policy.
BACKGROUND
Stack ranking has brought disrespect amongst employees by killing their spirits of performance. With only 9% of the company's employees deemed top performers, the remaining 91% are considered low performers and dismissed or sidelined. By 2011, only 6% of companies were using this controversial management technique. This culture would undoubtedly lead to this organization's downfall due to the disregard of employees' ideas. Our company's managers use this strategy for identifying high performers yet end up bringing the rest of the team to shame. Stack ranking causes tension and bars members from giving their perspectives on issues since they feel humiliated. The communication guidelines policy will help managers and employees to work well together.
