Discussion Questions Search and Seizure issue in probation and parole United States land laws are ever changing with constant amendments depending on the context. The fourth amendment made by the United States Supreme Court’s ruling indicates that warrantless justifies search and seizure on a number of scenarios (Rutledge, 2006). There have been recent public calls for the supreme courts to develop a system that incorporates the offenders back to the society, while making sure that the public safety is protected. The police force should conduct searches and seizures in a reasonable manner, the searches and seizures are performed any time of the day or night on suspicion-less, warrantless searches of the vehicle, person, residence and property of a probationer or parolee depending on the prevailing context. The issue of search and seizure in probation and parole has not been resolved with different states having separate systems of administering the model (Rutledge, 2006). Megan’s law Megan’s laws in United States are law enforcements that gears at the authorities providing advance information to the general public. The laws identify with the sex offenders who are registered. Megan’s laws were put in place after the murder case of the Megan Kanka. The information provided by the states varies with each state deciding the exact information that will be made public and the information that will be concealed. The laws developed by the states go further to indicate the dissemination model generally accepted in the particular state. Megan’s laws are considered moral and constitution to protect the American people from the sex pests. The information made public identifies with offender’s pictures, names, incarceration date, address and the crime nature. The information on the offenders is readily displayed in particular websites, pamphlets, newspapers and through other social means. Megan’s law at federal level is constantly referred to as the Sexual Offender Act of 1994 (Jacob Wetterling). The law requires individuals with sex crimes conviction against the minors, often children to let the local law enforcement know the changes in employment, address of the offender after living the custody. The custody identifies with the psychiatric facility or prison. The requirement basing on the offense maybe set at lifetime or at least ten years.
