Introduction: one of the situations that I encountered during my clinical was trying to help educate a mother on how to identify and respond to hunger cues from her baby. Every time parents visited the unit, they continuously tried to breastfeed or bottle feed their baby without paying attention to the hunger cues. During such experiences, my coach made it a point to remind me of the danger of feeding a baby when it was not cueing, the biggest one being that it reduces the baby’s reflex to cue when hungry. With the guidance of my coach, I helped teach the young parents on how to detect hunger cues from their baby.
