Culture is arguably the most important aspect of an individual’s social life, considering its impacts on personality development. People rely on culture to differentiate good from bad deeds. It is mainly through a culture that individuals interact, empathize, and assist one another. Culture also defines important human prospects, including political and economic activities. Understanding cultural differences is akin to developing insight into why different cultural regions are structured differently. Presently, the US and China are among the most dominant cultures in the world. Considering how the two nations differ in socio-political ideologies, exploring the influence of cultural prospects in the variations is insightful. This paper assesses cultural differences between China and the US through an analysis of their respective religions. China differs from the US in religious prospects, including structure, philosophy, and influence in political decisions, which extend to define some of the fundamental differences between the US and China.

There is no scholarly agreement on what constitutes a religion. However, religion is a factor of sociocultural systems related to humanity’s spiritual, transcendental, and supernatural elements. Among humans, religious beliefs constitute prospects that they consider worthy of special reverence, divine, spiritual, absolute, sacred, and holy (Bergsman, 2013). Religion is also linked with people’s management of the ultimate concerns of their fates after death. Most religious doctrines define beliefs in life after death as a matter of the relationship between the individual and the spirits or gods. Religious beliefs are consistently linked to investments in spiritual and moral authorities. Believers in various religious groups partake in prospects, including performing rituals, meditation, and prayer to showcase their commitment to the beliefs. Approximately 84% of the world’s population is affiliated with some religious groups. There are about 10,000 distinct religions globally, with folk religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity shown as the most dominant religious groups. There is a notable increase in religiously unaffiliated people to about 16% of the population. However, religiously unaffiliated individuals still showcase some beliefs, especially in the prospects of life after death.
Religions and religious groups are important to societies in various ways. In most cultures, religion is a factor of identity. Religious groups are large social gatherings in which people manifest similar characteristics. In such groups, people find meaning for different aspects of their lives, including their reason for existent. Religion is also a tool that defines behavior (Bergsman, 2013).
